Tour de Garden, the annual tour of some of midtown Omaha’s most beautiful community gardens, returns on Sunday, Sept. 6, from 9-12. The public is invited to visit neighborhood community gardens, where volunteers will greet them and tell them about their gardens.
As a self-guided bicycle ride, participants can start at any of the participating gardens, and a suggested route map will be available all garden sites. A group ride will depart from the Omaha Bicycle Company at 6015 Maple at 9 a.m.
Note: bicycling is encouraged but not required!
Participating gardens include an Urban Fruit Orchard; and the Benson, Big Garden, City Sprouts, Dundee, Gifford Park, and Root Down Community Gardens. Several of the garden sites are refugee gardens.
Again this year, there will be a post-ride party starting at noon at the Benson Community Garden, 1302 N. 60th St., with live music and a garden salsa contest.
